Guest Post ~ Lacey from Lace & Lacquers

I first found Lacey from Lace & Lacquers on Instagram and I love her hilarious writing style. Reading her posts always makes me feel like she’s talking directly to me! Today she is showing a gorgeous textured polish and I’m now convinced that I need it!ย

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Royal Icing

Ello there! Refined & Polished has asked me to guest post for her, since she’s awesome how could I say no?! I’m Lacey :] I have a blog called Lace & Lacquers. I’ve been kind of stumped on what to write on this guest post, I had an idea and then my friend sent me Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Royal Icing (which I’ve been desperately trying to find!). So, I decided with all the textured polish trends out there, I’d show you this pretty little gritty gem. ๐Ÿ˜›

Can you see why I wanted this polish so bad?! Haha textured polish is a trend I thought I’d hate, but I think it ended up being pretty cool and to my surprise it isn’t as “bumpy/gritty” as I thought it would be. ๐Ÿ˜› This polish reminded me of one of Zoya’s PixieDust polishes, which I like quite well and made me like textured polish, so I figured I’d give it a shot!

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Royal Icing, I believe this and 2 other “sparkly” textured polishes that are in this collection are limited edition. The description from Nouveau Cheap’s Blog was what really sold me on these polishes, well and the color of course. ๐Ÿ˜› I believe she called it “Sinful Colors Cinderella on steroids”! Which is a gorgeous color if you haven’t seen already. So, Royal Icing is a textured light blue polish with flashes of pink and some gold.

I did 2 coats over Sinful Colors Sugar Rush and 3 coats alone on my ring finger. (I’d like to apologize about my skin being ugly lol it tends to flare up conveniently when I do guest posts -.-). ANYWAYS, while this is a very pretty polish, I’m not sure I’m a fan of the formula. It honestly seemed like it took 10 days to dry, alone or over a color. In addition, it is a mighty sheer polish – the pretty stains on my ring finger are nicely appreciated through the 3 coats. If you have patience for it and are willing to wait some time between coats, I think you’ll be fine. If you don’t you’re going to risk balding spots – eek! ON THE BRIGHT SIDE – this is a gorgeous color ;]

Julie G Candy Coated textured polish

I’ve really wanted to do a little nail art with some textured polish. I decided to use Royal Icing and add Julie G Candy Coated (another textured polish). So here’s the design I decided to do:

Textured polish nail art: Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Royal Icingand Julie G Candy Coated over Sinful Colors Snow Me White

Sowwy for the light change, the sun decided to go down on me so I had to use my lightbox which is a pain in the bunz, grrr! I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White as my base for my polish since I knew the textured colors would stand out more. I stamped my nails with a silver polish and Cheeky plate CH50. Then, using a striping brush I applied the two different textured polishes over the silver polish :] If you’re wondering, poop because I was, textured polishes for nail art are a lot easier to deal with than I thought they would be! It creates a pretty unique look too when contrasting against the creme polish base.

I hope you enjoyed my review and thank you to Refined and Poished for asking me to be a guest on your blog :]

If you would like to come hang out and follow me around the Internet, here are my deets!
