Hey dolls! I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was pretty busy with sorority functions and grading final exams. I’ll be extremely happy once grades are submitted towards the middle of the week.

Today I have photos for you of the Grimm Grinning Ghosts Duo, which is a collaboration between The Lady Varnishes and Sweet Heart Polish. This duo was inspired by The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland.

The Lady Varnishes Welcome, Foolish Mortals is a green-leaning aqua jelly base that’s filled with iridescent, blue, green, and aqua glitters of various sizes. The formula was much different from all of the other polishes I’ve tried from this brand, and I believe it’s due to this one being a glow in the dark polish. Welcome, Foolish Mortals was thick and required a slow, steady application. I recommend waiting several minutes in between coats to minimize dragging. Two coats were used for opacity and top coat was applied, as this polish dried to a gritty finish. Welcome, Foolish Mortals does have a bright green glow after being charged for a couple of minutes.

Sweet Heart Polish Hurry Ba-ack is a black jelly base filled with gold microglitter and various shaped and sized green, purple, and blue glitters. The formula was sheer on the first coat, but built up nicely in three coats. To minimize the number of coats used, Hurry Ba-ack could always be layered over a black base. I didn’t have much difficulty getting the larger glitters out, but I moved them around on the nail to get a look I was pleased with. As with Welcome, Foolish Mortals, I recommend waiting a few minutes in between coats to prevent dragging and to keep your glitter from moving around. Hurry Ba-ack dried to a slightly gritty finish, so top coat was used.

I’ve never been to Disney, so I’m not familiar with The Haunted Mansion, but maybe I’ll get to see it when we go later this year with the little one. This duo was actually my first introduction to Sweet Heart Polish and I’m pleased. While there are lots of black jelly based glitters on the market, I haven’t seen this particular mix. I really love the color of Welcome, Foolish Mortals, but I’ll have to add a few drops of thinner before trying it again to see if it helps make application easier.

The Grim Grinning Ghosts duo was released in limited amounts on both brands’ Etsy pages and right now it is only available on Sweet Heart Polish for $18. Be sure to keep up with both The Lady Varnishes and Sweet Heart Polish on facebook for new releases!
