Hey dolls! I was recently contacted by the lovely owner of Classic Films Cosmetics to review her first collection of polishes. We immediately bonded over our love of polish inspired by fashion. The first collection consists of seven glitters that can be worn alone or over complimentary bases. This collection was inspired by vintage fashion and named for classic film noir titles. Each polish had a good formula and applied easily to the nail in one coat.
Lady in the Lake is described as a light silvery-blue base with just a hint of rose-pink glitter and gold flakes. This is one of my favorites of the collection. It has so much depth and I just love the rose-pink glitter and the blue shimmer. Lady in the Lake is shown over Zoya Louise.
D.O.A. is described as a foundation of gunmetal, made interesting with pastel green and lavender hex glitters, as well as silver holo slices and some iridescent shreds. The addition of the pastel glitters really make this a fun polish. D.O.A. is shown over Cult Nails Riot.
Lured is filled with gold pigment, holo hexes, holo squares, turquoise, and purple glitters. This polish is pretty amazing! It has a very luxurious feel. Lured is shown over Zoya Hunter.
Sunset Boulevard is described as gold, copper, caramel, and bronze hex glitters, topped off with a bit of purple. I love this color combination and it may just be my other top pick from this collection. Sunset Boulevard is shown over Zoya Flynn.
Impact is described as a silvery pink base, then loaded with black dots, diamonds and bars, topped off with hot pink hexes and cotton candy shreds. The larger glitters were a little more challenging to get out, so I recommend leaving the bottle upside down. For some odd reason, this polish reminds me of a deck of cards. Maybe it’s because I layered it over red. Impact is shown over Zoya Livingston.
Spellbound is pink pigments with lavender, sunshine and white glitters. I didn’t have any difficulties getting the shaped glitters out when applying. While I’m not a fan of shaped glitters, I do think the bluish-purple shimmer in this polish is gorgeous! Spellbound is shown over Zoya Pepper.
They Live By Night is described as a pinch of red combined with blue and gunmetal glitters and pigments. The larger moon and star glitter dispersed easily during application. It dried to a matte finish, so top coat was added. They Live By Night is shown over Zoya Sailor.
Overall, the first collection from Classic Films Cosmetics has a little something for everyone. While shaped glitter may not be everyone’s cup of tea, you can definitely choose not to apply those to the nails. The underlying shimmer in each shade is super pretty and provides a lot of depth. Classic Films Cosmetics can be purchased here for $10 each. Be sure to keep up with them on Facebook and Twitter for deals and sneak peeks.
