Happy New Year’s Eve dolls! I’ve yet to do my nails, but I plan to at least change them this evening. I absolutely cannot enter the new year with them looking the way they do at this point. I’ve maybe polished my nail four times this entire month. The struggle is real!
Today I have a recap of my favorite polishes of the year. Most of these were released in 2014, but they are all shades that I wore for the first time throughout the last year. I included both indies and mainstream brands in this list, which caused it to be a massive undertaking. After going through each post of 2014, the initial list included 60 polishes. I was able to dwindle it down to my top 20. Here they are in alphabetical order:
Aliquid Lacquer Forever and a Day ~ I was able to review Aliquid Lacquer late in the year and I’m so pleased I got the opportunity. She makes some really unique shimmers!
Barielle Designer’s Shoe ~ There were a lot of releases from Barielle this year that weren’t super unique, but Designer’s Shoe definitely stood out to me. The formula is perfect too!
Butter London Giddy Kipper ~ This was my favorite release from BL. The shade of blue is perfect and I love that the shimmer is visible in all lights.
China Glaze Mind the Gap ~ I’m sure you won’t see this shade on a lot of favorites’ lists, but what can I say, ugly/pretty shades are my thing!
Cirque Dear Dahlia ~ Cirque released so many awesome shimmers, holos, and cremes this year, but the Kontiki collection hit the ball out of the park.
Cult Nails Evolution ~ The formula on this shade, plus how it looks on me made Evolution appear on this list.
Indigo Bananas Hole in the Sky ~ The complexity of this polish is amazing! The shimmer and the flakes are perfection together.
KBShimmer Run. It’s the Coppers! ~ I can’t even believe how many holos I included this year. This is another great one.
KBShimmer Rust No One ~ This holo is ridiculous! It’s another shade that I love on my complexion.
Marc Jacobs Petra ~ Out of all of shades in Marc Jacobs’ first foray into nail polish, Petra was the one to stand out for me. Thankfully, I had a Sephora giftcard, because I’m not about high end regular prices.
Polished by KPT Same Fall Different Beginning ~ It was so hard trying to choose my favorite KPT thermal. Do You Wanna Fanta? and Mars Escapade definitely get honorable mentions.
Pretty Serious Cosmetics Swatch & Learn ~ This is another super complex polish that is extremely hard to describe. It doesn’t matter though, I love it.
Rescue Beauty Lounge Will They Won’t They ~ I had several shimmers from RBL on the initial list, but the flakes in Will They Won’t They kept making me go back to that post.
Scofflaw Blind Tiger ~ I’ve been loving everything orange this year. Add in some amazing shimmer and flakes and we have a winner.
Serum No. 5 Sleepy Holo ~ This is my first charcoal holo and I love it!
SmittenPolish Audrey’s Rainbow ~ This is the perfect shade of turquoise. The holo isn’t too overbearing either.
SmittenPolish Radiant Orchid ~ Many brands released shades based on the Pantone color of the year, but this one from Smitten was my favorite.
The Lady Varnishes Have Some Candy ~ So many great glitter combinations came from The Lady Varnishes this year. The base color on Have Some Candy is everything!
Zoya Chanelle ~ Chanelle has been the only nude I’ve reached for since it’s release earlier this year. I just love it with my complexion.
Zoya Harlow ~ Words can’t express how ecstatic I was when Zoya announced that this collection was being re-released!
There you have it, my top 20 favorites of 2014. It was a great year for polish in my book. Who knew I’d include so many holos this year? Cremes and shimmers always rank high on my list though. What were some of your favorites from 2014?
