2013 Mainstream Favorites

Hey dolls! 2013 is coming to an end and it’s time to wrap up the year with a few favorites posts. Today I’m sharing the mainstream polishes that I loved the most. These are shades that I wore at some point in 2013 (most were released this year as well). While most people agree that this was the year of the indie brands, there were ten mainstreams that got my attention. Here they are in alphabetical order and my original reviews will be linked.

Barielle Blue Capri – Barielle quietly churned out collections all year with the perfect crelly formula. While not always the most unique, the formula never disappoints. Blue Capri was one of my standout favorites from them. It’s a bright, take notice blue, but not the same cobalt we saw over and over again last year.

Dior Spring Ball – This is the polish I lusted over! I have a weakness for corals and the shimmer in Spring Ball was amazing! I can always count on my girl Burb Beauty to have me hooked on a high end polish.

Illamasqua Venous – While I dislike this year’s price mark up on Illamasquas, Venous was one of my favorites. It’s a perfect shade of teal with a perfect creme formula.

JulieG Rock Candy – 2013 was the year of the textured polish and I’m not mad about it at all! I love textured polishes that include a little sparkle and JulieG Rock Candy is a prime example of this trend at its best.

LA Girl 3D Effects Electric Coral – Orange with just the right amount of holographic sparkle; Electric Coral had to make this list! I feel that orange is one of the most flattering shades on my complexion, so this one was worn for days.

Revlon Girly – Of course there had to be some pink on this list! Revlon Girly is just that; a super girly glitter that just makes you want to smile.

Sally Hansen Lava – I’m not the biggest duochrome fan, but Lava was one that I needed. The pink to orange to gold color shift is amazing!

Sephora Formula X Hyped – I knew this polish would be in my favorites as soon as I applied it. The shimmer in Hyped is stunning and shade is unique for my stash.

Zoya Dream – Ahhh! When Zoya does something well, they do it really well! We wanted to see more of their scattered holos and Dream was the perfect answer to our requests.

Zoya Tomoko – Zoya was my first foray into the textured arena and they have the trend on lock in my opinion. The PixieDusts polishes contain just the right of sparkle and the formulas are always great. It was hard to narrow it down to just one Pixie for my favorites list, but Tomoko is the only one I’ve worn more than once. The bling that this polish gives off is amazing!

There you have it dolls! This was a great year for polish in my book. This post shows that I tend to gravitate towards certain finishes – heavy shimmers, cremes, scattered holo shimmer, and textured bling. What are your thoughts on my ten favorite mainstream polishes for 2013? Did any of these make your list? Tomorrow I’ll share my favorite indies with you!
