Remembering My Mom

Hey dolls! It feels like it’s been so long since I’ve typed that. In my last post, I mentioned that my mother’s health had continued to decline. If you follow me on instagram, you may already know that she passed away on February 10, 2015 at the age of 50. Needless to say, the last few months have been difficult for our family. After an almost decade long battle with breast and uterine cancer, we find comfort in knowing that she is resting peacefully with God and watching over us daily.

During my time away from blogging, I really didn’t take good care of my nails. I vividly remember her commenting close to the end when I wore my TT inspired by a shoe look until the stones were falling off how I “really needed to go and change my nails.” That was her up until the end, in good spirits and making jokes. She was surrounded by loved ones and found peace in knowing that she lived a life that made God and her family proud.

I knew that my first post back would have to include her favorite color pink. I included peach as it is the awareness color for uterine cancer. The dry water marble technique that I first saw on Nailderella, was attempted using Cult Nails Evolution and Falling Hard. The most difficult part was finding a peach that would spread nicely in the water. I let the marble dry for about an hour before taking it out of the water. You definitely have to be very careful when cutting the decals, as the marble is extremely delicate.

I sincerely appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers that you all have shared. As an only child, this has been difficult, but with God and a supportive family, I’ll be okay. Her favorite motto was to always live, love, and laugh. I plan to take it one day at a time doing just that.
