Hey dolls! The ladies behind the quarterly Beauty Envy Bag giveaway (Beauty Obsessed, Burb Beauty, Cosmetics Aficionado, and I) have come together to complete themed monthly posts on the second Friday of each month. The theme for our first collaboration post is radiant orchid. I’m sure by now you all know that radiant orchid has been chosen by Pantone as the color of 2014. I’m super pleased with this pick because orchid is flattering on all skin tones. I decided to do a little nail art using two gorgeous, previously reviewed Mentality shades that fall into the radiant orchid category. I’ve seen a lot of cremes that fall into this category, so I wanted to use different finishes. Mentality Wily is a scattered holo and Mentality Sorceress is a matte filled with shimmer.
My nail art look started with two coats of Wily. Next, I added an accent nail of Mentality Celebration, a shimmery off white. Dots were added to the accent nail using Sorceress. I recently received these pretty arabesque patterned water decals from BornPretty and I just knew they would look perfect with this look. The water decal was extremely easy to apply. You cut off the part of the design you would like to use and then submerge it in water for 10-20 seconds. You then remove the decal from the paper backing and place it on your mani, sealing it in with top coat. To tie the entire look together, I added one coat of Mentality Matte top coat.
I just love the way this look came together! The silver arabesque water decal added just the perfect amount of fancy to this mani. I don’t typically apply matte top coat to holos, but I really like how it makes the glow a little more subtle. Just in case you were curious how Wily and Sorceress looked on their own, here are photos from my previous reviews.
I hope you all enjoyed this radiant orchid mani! This shade is everywhere, so you shouldn’t have too many difficulties finding it.
