Polish Storage ~ Decorated Melmers

Purchased by Me

Happy Friday dolls! I recently realized that I never blogged about my melmers once they were were decorated. I’ve shared a few photos of them on facebook and instagram, so these may look familiar if you follow me there.  A few months ago, I decided to purchase a second melmer because polishes were taking over my space. I tend to purge quite often to keep my stash to a minimum, but now that I review so many polishes, I needed more space. “Melmers” are available at Michaels in the scrapbooking/craft storage section. When I picked up my second one, I also decided that I needed to beautify these units.

Decorating the melmers was pretty easy! After the unit was built, I cut several pieces of scrapbook paper to size. Double sided adhesive was used to adhere the scrapbook paper to the front of each drawer. Here is the final look:

I love the way these turned out! Using scrapbook paper gives you the freedom to decorate your melmer however you desire at a very low cost. Now all of my polishes are nicely hidden in these decorative storage units and people have no clue when they visit that this is the home of a crazy polish lady. Each drawer holds around 150-175 polishes (depending on the size). At this point, none of the drawers are completely full and I still have room to grow. Melmers are typically around $40, but they go on sale quite frequently for half off. Michaels always has 40-50% off one item coupons, so that’s another way to purchase a unit for the low. How do you store your polish?

I have a melmer too, but it’s still plain white. I love your idea of putting scrapbook paper on to beautify it!! I’ll have to check out some scrapbook paper! 🙂 Your combo of paper designs is really nice, did you buy those to complement the room they are in?

    • You can find the paper for super cheap at any craft store. These are kept in a built in nook, so they don’t really go with the rest of the general decor scheme of my place. I just love these colors together though.

  • So cute!! I love the paper you used. I had my hubby put shelves on the wall of my closet and that is how I store my polish.

    • Thanks love! I like the idea of shelves, but I would not want to dust them. lol

      • I am now moving and looking for new storage options. My shelves can no longer be an option. Do these “sag” in the middle when filled with polish??

        • No, they don’t sag at all. I also haven’t had any problems with them being stacked 3 high.

    Love the pretty patterns 🙂

  • They look so pretty! I bought my first two but I’ve only built one of them so far. Time to do the other one since the first one is getting full, lol.

  • Sweet!!!! Great idea.
