Guest Post ~ Tiffany’s Tasteful Talons

Hey dolls! Today’s post comes from my girl Tiffany who just started blogging late last year. I adore the color combo she used below and the addition of the studs just makes it more fabulous!

Hello, R&P readers!

This is Tiffany from Tiffany’s Tasteful Talons. My nail friend Lakiesha asked me to do another guest post for her while she and her hubby make their move to Georgia, so here it is!

Last year, one of my local American Apparel stores had a container filled with nail polishes marked down to only $1. It would have been silly of me to not take advantage. How often do you find good-quality polishes for only $1 each? I believe they had them at that price because the polishes were rather old, with color separation being visible from looking at some of the bottles-Nothing a good shake couldn’t fix! I grabbed a good bunch (maybe almost 20 in a couple of trips…lol), including two neon colors called “Neon Blue” and “Neon Violet”. Here is the look I created with them, using tape and some studs I received from another nail friend.

Achieving this look was fairly simple, focusing on one part of the mani at a time. I painted two coats of “Neon Violet”, and let it dry overnight. It’s very important to give your base color enough drying time, especially before using tape against it. I then sectioned off the areas I wanted to paint with “Neon Blue” using scotch tape. I took away some of the adhesive of the tape to prevent it from taking off some of the violet by tacking it on my clothes a couple of times; followed by painting two coats of the blue. Removing the tape was a breeze. I then applied a coat of “Out the Door” top coat, and then applied the studs by dabbing the OTD top coat to the back of them; picking them up and placing them on the nail with tweezers.  This may sound a bit complicated, but I think taking your time is key to a successful outcome. This was only my second time creating a look like this, and my first time using studs. I think anyone can achieve this look, no matter where your nail art skills happen to be at the moment. If you are interested in American Apparel nail polishes, you can purchase them from their website at full price, or if you’re lucky enough to have a store in your area, you may find some the way that I did. Well, I hope you enjoyed this post! I had fun putting it together for you, R&P readers! Thanks for taking a look.
