Dare to Compare ~ Volume 1

Hey dolls! In the last giveaway a lot of you mentioned that you’d like to see more nail polish comparison posts on R&P. While I don’t have the spare time to swatch comparisons on my nails, I can definitely do it on nail wheels. The plan is to provide comparisons on recently released or reviewed polishes with others I currently have in my stash. This will include indie, mainstream, low, and high end brands. I will only be providing comparisons for items I actually have though (no need to spend money knowingly on dupes). This feature should help me when it comes to purging my stash every so often. I’m hoping this feature will be helpful to you all as well when you’re determining whether you should purchase a polish. Links will be provided to previous reviews so you can read more about each individual shade.

Up first is a comparison between two mustard yellows: Nails Inc. Hampstead Gardens and RBL Footpath. Two coats of each polish was used. These are quite similar in shade and formula. Footpath is just a tad bit brighter.

When reviewing the KBShimmer cremes, I thought I may have had something similar to Sky Jinks. Turns out I was wrong. I compared it to a few other sky blues – Cult Nails Party Time, Zoya Breezi, and Zoya Robyn. Party Time and Breezi look so much darker when beside these other shades. Two coats of each shade was used.

Periwinkle blues have been relatively popular lately. I wanted to compare Cult Nails Tied Up, Barielle Blue Capri, Deborah Lippmann I Know What Boys Like, and Barielle Designer’s Shoe. Tied Up and I Know What Boys Like are quite similar in shade but Tied Up is a jelly. Two coats of each was used.

Tiffany of Polished to Precision asked to see a Cirque Sky Woman (two coats) and Smitten Polish Ker-Bloom (four coats) comparison. While these periwinkle holos look very similar in the bottle, Sky Woman is darker and more pigmented. Both are way more holo than what they appear below, so be sure to check my previous reviews for color accurate photos.

Lizzie of The Do It Yourself Lady asked if Butter London Sunbaker (two coats) was close to China Glaze Riveting (3 coats). I decided to throw Zoya Amy (3 coats) in for good measure. Riveting is definitely the brightest of the bunch and Amy has heavier gold shimmer. Sunbaker almost looks a little dusty beside it.

Many thanks to Jennifer L. for recommending Dare to Compare as the name of this series on facebook last night. Is there anything I’ve reviewed recently that you’d be interested in seeing comparisons for? Let me know your thoughts!
