*Update – Perfect timing with this post as Barielle is having a 30% off plus free shipping sale through 6/20/13. I love when this sale comes around!*
Hey dolls! It has taken me forever to put this post together. I had the pictures ready last week, but then we went out of town to find a home (which we did) and I didn’t have time to finish it. I posted the collage on my facebook page at some point last weekend. The Barielle Brilliant Colors collection is filled with five vibrant, saturated cremes that would be perfect for both manis and pedis this summer.
Magna Cum Laude Turquoise is a bright turquoise that looks to have just a little bit of neon pigment. It is crazy bright in the sun! The formula was the typical creme-jelly hybrid that most love from Barielle. Magna Cum Laude Turquoise self-leveled well and was opaque in two coats.
Straight A Coral is a gorgeous red leaning coral that also had a great creme-jelly hybrid formula. You may remember this shade from my failed watermelon nail art. I typically like corals that are more orange or pink leaning, but Straight A Coral may have pushed me to the other side. Two coats were used for opacity.
High Marks Purple is a gorgeous purple with red undertones. I love this shade! The formula was also a creme-jelly hybrid and it self-leveled well. Two coats were used for opacity.
Smarty Pants Pink is a bright bubblegum pink that also has a little bit of neon pigment. This color was so hard to photograph, but I’m pretty sure I’m showing it as accurately as possible. The formula was thinner than the rest of the collection, but not problematic. Two coats were used for opacity.
Head of the Class Green is a bright green creme that also has a little bit of neon pigment. The formula was thicker than the rest of the collection, but still easy to apply. Be sure to double up on base coat with this shade, because I did have some staining upon removal. Two coats were used for opacity.
Overall, I think this is a very solid collection. Barielle describes all of the polishes as neons, but I’d only put Magna Cum Laude Turquoise, Head of the Class Green, and Smarty Pants Pink in that category. Even though they aren’t the typical eye-searing neons we are used to seeing, these are definitely more appropriate for people who want just the right amount brightness on their nails without the polish screaming. My favorites from the collection are Head of the Class Green (wished it didn’t stain), High Marks Purple, and Magna Cum Laude Turquoise. The Brilliant Colors collection is available now as a kit ($25) or as individual shades ($8 each with bogo 50%) on Barielle’s website.
