Hey dolls! I hope that those of you who are off on this Good Friday are enjoying the day. I’m working, but looking forward to a nice Easter weekend. Today I have pictures for you of a combo I wore earlier this week. I recently received Barielle Matte-inee, a matte top coat, for review and I knew I wanted to try it over a dark polish. I started with Barielle Berry Blue, which is a gorgeous, inky, navy blue creme. The formula was extremely pigmented and easy to use. You could almost get away with one coat, but I used two for photo purposes. Berry Blue has an extremely high gloss finish as well!

Matte-inee can be used on a regular basis by women and men to strengthen, condition, and protect the nail. It can also be used to provide a matte finish for high gloss polishes, which is how I used it. After Berry Blue dried, I applied one coat of Matte-inee to my nails. Within about 30 seconds, you start to notice the base polish becoming more matte. In about 3-5 minutes, the polish was completely dry to the touch. As you can see from the photos below, Matte-inee gives off more of a satin finish in comparison to some other matte top coats.

I’ve always wanted to try some glossy and matte nail art, so this was the perfect opportunity. I used a medium sized dotting tool and clear top coat to make the dots.

I adore the way this turned out! I wore this look for several days even though the entire manicure started to have a glossy look after applying lotions and hair products, which is totally typical. Matte polishes tend to chip a lot, but I think you may avoid that by using a top coat like Matte-inee over a regular polish that you know wears well (I had no chips after 3 days of wear). If you were just wearing Matte-inee over a polish, I would recommend applying it every other day or so to keep that satiny-look. Matte-inee can be purchased here for $16.

Interesting. I can’t really call it a matte top coat, but it looks very nice. Love the dots on it, too!
